The Parks Canada Youth Ambassadors are back on the road!

2022-2023 Parks Canada Youth Ambassador

Hello!

My name is Patricia and I am one of the 2022-23 Parks Canada Youth Ambassadors. I am going to talk about our first amazing Youth Ambassador trip from Ottawa to Quebec City and how we used the VIA Rail train and walked to connect our adventures in style while having low environmental impact and making our trip more sustainable.

After meeting some Parks Canada colleagues in the national capital region, we arrived at the Ottawa train station early in the morning, received a warm welcome, and noticed that a lot of people were reading. Before we knew it, the whistle rang, and our train pulled out of the station!

And just like that, choo, choo, the Parks Canada Youth Ambassadors were back on the road again! ? ✨

During our trip, we talked about and planned our upcoming events, and watched the beautiful scenery as the landscape turned from the beautiful Quebec countryside to the vibrant bustle of Montreal. ?

We got off the train station, located in the heart of Montreal City, to attend a shoreline clean-up at Lachine Canal National Historic Site and saw the community and Parks Canada staff come together to clean-up over 60 kg of garbage along the waterfront paths! Check this out

After this super successful event and saying goodbye to our new friends, we arrived back at the Montréal Central Station train station and made our way for our final stop in Quebec City. We saw the city’s history brought to life at our National Historic Site visits to Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux, Fortifications of Québec, and Artillery Park! ? All of these stops are in walking distance from the train station which made it super easy to explore! ?

We had a wonderful time on our first Youth Ambassadors trip of Summer 2022! ? And don’t forget: even when you’re exploring a city there are so many ways to show your love of nature with every single choice you make. Your turn now to plan a sustainable trip

Check out each of our Quebec stops on @ParksLife Facebook and Twitter platforms and check out our Instagram Stories by following @parks.canada ! Stay tuned to find out where we go next! ?

Safe traveling! ??
