Connecting with nature is a potential public health strategy that is accessible and affordable for many populations, with research demonstrating not only protective values but restorative benefits as well. People tend to be happier, healthier, more productive, creative, active and engaged in community and civic life when nature is a meaningful part of their lives.
The WCPA Health and Well-being Specialist Group is leading the way in promoting the health and well-being benefits of nature across the conservation, health and other sectors.
In addition, initiatives like Park Rx America and PaRx in Canada are leading efforts at encouraging health practitioners in prescribing nature as a way to improving patient’s health.
On this page, you will find resources you can use to support your work in promoting the health benefits of spending time connecting with nature. Learn more about the human benefits of nature here.
