Resources

Whether you are a scientist looking to explore true, personal storytelling as a new way of communicating your science, or a performer looking to understand the science behind what makes personal storytelling so effective, these workshops are for you! Through a mix of sharing scientific research, analyzing stories, and engaging in hands-on activities, these workshops lead participants in becoming storytellers and storylisteners so that they can embed the practice of storytelling into the rest of their lives.

Storytelling is a skill that we all have. As human beings, story is the primary way we communicate meaning to each other. But some people seem to have a knack for storytelling, and others might shy away from presenting a story. Nathaniel, a theatre professional, shares some ideas and skills needed to be able to bring a good story to life. With a bit of time and a few exercises, you can feel more confident telling your story to others in your organization too.

Looking to connect, collaborate and inspire change year-round with a global storytelling community? Consider applying to the Jackson Wild Collective, a free and private community. Through ongoing mentorship, an international production database and career-building programs, the Collective provides resources for storytellers at all levels to elevate their impact and expand their opportunities. Membership is approved on an individual basis. To join the community, submit an application.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) invites you to explore the impact sharing a personal #NatureLoveStory has on conserving and protecting the environment. Ana Mandri, IUCN-CEC Steering Committee member and CEO of Zamia, leads a conversation on the power sharing personal, inspirational stories has on conservation efforts worldwide. Featuring Aurora Piaggesi, storyteller and audiovisual content creator; Diana Garlytska, storytelling events organiser and IUCN CEC West Europe Regional Vice Chair; and Manfred Meiners: Conservation photographer and environmental communicator storyteller.
