The mission has since been to educate the world\u2019s youth about the importance of the Polar Regions, to support their continued growth and to inspire initiatives that contribute to global sustainability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Today, SOI works to instil an understanding of how the Arctic and Antarctic are both critical and essential parts of our Planet. They illuminate our history and are cornerstones of our global ecosystem and our future. They are homelands, wilderness, frontiers, laboratories, and classrooms on the frontlines of environmental, cultural, political, social, and economic change.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-yui_3_17_2_1_1507141077051_281099\" class=\"sqs-block horizontalrule-block sqs-block-horizontalrule\" data-block-type=\"47\">\n<div class=\"sqs-block-content\">\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-yui_3_17_2_1_1507141077051_281896\" class=\"sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html\" data-block-type=\"2\">\n<div class=\"sqs-block-content\">\n<h2><strong>The Solution <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\"><em>Our expeditions are profound, hands-on experiences for youth to bridge cultures, learn from experts about climate change, biodiversity, traditional knowledge, and gain the inspiration and motivation needed to help lead us to a healthier and more sustainable future.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Experiential education is the foundation of the SOI approach; we are dedicated to inspiring and supporting youth and providing them the necessary tools to instil positive change in their communities and around the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Each expedition brings together a team of Indigenous and non Indigenous students and expert staff from around the world including scientists, elders, artists, historians and visionary leaders. Together, they develop a deeper connection to the land, culture and people of the Arctic through cross-cultural dialogue, community visits, hands-on research, wildlife observations, and land and ship-based workshops.Youth learn about the impacts of climate change, the importance of ocean conservation, and other important topics, grounded in an understanding and appreciation for the people who call the Arctic home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Throughout their learning experience we support each participant in developing a strong sense of self and a personal paradigm of ability and opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-yui_3_17_2_1_1507141077051_282393\" class=\"sqs-block horizontalrule-block sqs-block-horizontalrule\" data-block-type=\"47\">\n<div class=\"sqs-block-content\">\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-yui_3_17_2_1_1507141077051_282735\" class=\"sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html\" data-block-type=\"2\">\n<div class=\"sqs-block-content\">\n<h2><strong>The Results <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\"><em>2,700 alumni from 52 countries making a difference in their communities and beyond.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The expedition is just the beginning of a life-long journey of discovery and understanding. Post -expedition, participants become part of a supportive alumni network of more than 2,700 youth from 52 countries making a difference on a local and global level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">SOI alumni gain access to personal and professional development opportunities;
