La r\u00e9gion est le berceau de la culture des Mames. S\u2019ajoute \u00e0 ce patrimoine culturel une incroyable biodiversit\u00e9 d\u2019esp\u00e8ces end\u00e9miques menac\u00e9es cependant par les activit\u00e9s humaines, principalement le feu de for\u00eat. En effet, chaque ann\u00e9e, des hectares entiers de for\u00eat sont d\u00e9truits par des incendies volontaires.
