By Tonyaa Weathersbee, for Finding Nature News. Published here with permission.

Nicole Jackson doesn’t remember much about her life before being placed in foster care. She does, however, remember that being outdoors helped her survive it. Today, Jackson is an environmental educator and founder of N Her Nature, a coaching business that helps Black women find ways to connect with nature and use it as a conduit for joy and healing. Kind of like she did.

Read the full story of how the optimism that nature sparked in Nicole helped her turn her trauma into a healing journey and one she is working to help others do the same.
