Protected areas offer a solution to the climate and biodiversity crisis the world is facing. They provide safe havens for wild plants and animals and directly address the primary driver of extinction, habitat loss.
International, national, regional and community governments and agencies play a large part in creating and maintaining protected areas.
The IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas, one of the founders of the #NatureForAll movement, strives to create successful outcomes for the conservation of biodiversity. It develops and disseminates knowledge, science-based policy, advice and guidance on a full suite of issues surrounding protected areas. It brings together global experts to find solutions for programme priorities, including global protected area standards and Best Practice Guidelines.
The ‘Sounds of Your Park’ initiative is a continuously growing collection of sounds intended to celebrate the acoustical beauty and diversity of the world’s national parks and other protected areas.
‘Sounds of Your Park’ raises awareness of represented protected, and critically important areas, aiding in their protection.
