Having grown up in an agricultural village, she has learned many techniques from her childhood at her grandmothers’ farm. She shares how cow dung was used to store grains as opposed to the commercial storage insecticides. This method is not only affordable but also eco friendly and she believes this idea needs to be put in practice so as to safeguard our biodiversity which is lost through pollution.

Juarez Michelotti, based in Brazil, is a forest engineer, specialist in biodiversity management and conservation with over two decades of experience, shares a heartfelt story of how he fell in love with nature at a young age and his relationship with his daughter. He highlights the importance of child’s contact with nature.

Camille Coudrat, founder of Association Anoulak, implements a holistic multidisciplinary approach to wildlife conservation. Located in Nam Theun National Park, one of the most important sites in the Annamite Mountains for biodiversity conservation, her work has informed conservation plans and Red List Assessments for several regional species. Taking care of animals has been a part of Dr. James Watuwa’s life since childhood and his love for wildlife inspired him to become a veterinarian for the Ugandan and Rwandan governments. His work has ranged from participating in elephant and lion collaring, rescuing snared animals, to getting involved in wildlife population counts. He is concerned the activities involved in oil and gas exploration and development can have detrimental impacts on sensitive ecosystems, particularly the wellbeing of elephants.
