Agnes Etuah’s #LoveNature story

My name is Agnes Etuah, and I am deeply passionate about genetics and its role in understanding and preserving the rich biodiversity of West Africa. With a background in health, science and psychology, I have dedicated my career to exploring how genetic research can inform conservation strategies and promote sustainable practices within our communities. As a proud member of the Genetic Society of West Africa, I am committed to fostering collaboration and innovation in genetic research across the region.

My nature love project, “Genetic Guardians,” aims to assess the genetic diversity of endangered plant species in West Africa. Through this project, I will collect and analyze genetic samples from various habitats to understand the genetic variation and adaptability of these species in the face of environmental changes and human impact.

In addition to the scientific research, the project emphasizes community involvement and education. I will engage local communities by hosting workshops and collaborating with farmers to raise awareness about the importance of genetic diversity and conservation. By equipping the youth with knowledge about their local ecosystems, I aim to inspire a new generation of conservationists.

Through “Genetic Guardians,” I believe we can develop effective strategies to protect and restore our natural heritage, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the diverse and vibrant ecosystems that West Africa has to offer.
